Belief Updating

General scientific definition

People change their beliefs about the world because they receive new information, leading to changes in attitudes and/or behaviour. This new information concerns the present situation, whereas the older beliefs refer to an earlier situation. (When both the old and the new beliefs refer to the same situation, this is called belief revision)
