The Theoretical Mechanism Database

This is a database containing possible concepts of mechanisms found in scientific theories from many different disciplines (sociology, psychogy, economics, law, political science, etc.). Their definitions have been slightly adapted in order to be in line with the realist conception of mechanisms, i.e. it being a causal power for change.

By clicking on the mechanisms below you will be transferred to a page that contains the description of the mechanism, relevant substantive theories, and the main references to learn more about the theory and mechanism.
